I was lucky enough to find Indiesew on Instagram and have been in love ever since. Allie Olson co founded Indiesew with the intention of uniting the online sewing community, and that is exactly what she did. How you might ask? Well lets talk about what Indiesew can do for you...
Buying quality patterns just got easier
As a busy mom who loves crafts, Indiesew makes it easy to find a pattern, fall in love with it, and buy it. I bought this pattern a couple days ago for the Santa Fe Top and it took me about 5 minutes total to locate it, decide I need about a million for this summer, and buy it (easy peasy!). And then I got an email with the instant download, instant gratification with endless creative possibilities! I don't even have to feel guilty about this purchase because I supported Indiesew, the pattern designer Hey June, and saved money in the future by making my own totally awesome stylish tops! I know I will feel beautiful in the Santa Fe Top this summer and can't wait to make it! (It's just a bonus that this flowy top compliments the naturally beautiful postpartum figure).
The Perfect Pattern Platform
If you're a pattern designer (I wish I had your magic powers!) then Indiesew is the perfect platform for you. It brings your patterns front and center stage where the audience is full of creatives hungry for indie patterns and textiles, and Indiesew has both. Indiesew is built for the creatives that value quality products based on community and creative collaboration. Several talented pattern makers featured on the site are See Kate Sew, True Bias, and Allie Olson herself, who designed this modern and chic jacket that is perfect for all seasons and occasions, meet the Lonetree Jacket (and yes it's also a vest, who doesn't love vests!?) Sewing the Lonetree Jacket is one of my personal 2017 goals. Want to see a certain pattern on Indiesew? Just suggest a pattern directly to them!
Connect With Other Sewists
What better place to connect with other sewing enthusiasts than a company that values community over profit? In this day and age it's a breath of fresh air to find someone who is doing something they're passionate about while supporting other people in the same creative community. By the looks of the Lonetree Jacket, Allie could have had a shop selling her own patterns. Instead, she chose to create a platform for people with all different talents to connect and support each other, refreshing right? I think so. As a new mom I felt pretty isolated being at home with my bundle of joy because no matter how cute he is, and how adorable those babbles are, it's still not adult conversation. Sewing allows me a creative outlet to express myself, and has connected me with other moms who I am lucky to now call friends. Connecting with other creators on Indiesew is a breeze because you can upload and showcase your projects directly to the site!
Showcase Your Creations
Yes, this is real life. As a full grown adult I have to admit that one of my favorite activities is still show and tell, and yes my husband is a saint. I love showing off something after I make it because I am proud of it (even if it's totally mangled), and a little celebratory pat on the back never hurt. Indiesew encourages creators to upload their creations directly to the site linked to a pattern they've purchased, genius!
Hey there creative mom blogger, that means if you upload a creation to Indiesew everyone that looks at that pattern will see your creation and be enticed to look at your blog site, which means you just found an audience that likes what you like and will probably keep reading your blog, win win? I think so. Mind blown.

Take Full Control Of Your Minimalist Wardrobe
Minimalism is all the rage right now because it makes life easier. Who wouldn't want life to be easier? If someone gave me a carefully curated, but limited, quality wardrobe in exchange for my heaping pile of goodness knows what in my closet...let's just say I wouldn't turn it down. I feel like there's so much pressure on moms to look effortlessly stylish, like we don't have enough to do. Hello again messy bun. However, Indiesew offers you the ability to create your own look. I can't wait to see what fabric combinations I can come up with for the Santa Fe top. I love that I have full control over the overall feel of my clothes when I'm sewing them myself. This year I am going to get some handmade items in my closet in the hopes of redefining what beautiful and stylish means to me (the only downside of Indiesew is that minimalism may be difficult).
Intimidated by the idea of sewing (and then wearing!) your own clothes? Me too, but Indiesew has you covered. They have detailed tutorials to help you through, check those out here.
If those reasons aren't enough for you to check out Indiesew then I don't know what else to say other than I hope you check it out, find a pattern, fabric you love, and get sewing! By the way, this was not a sponsored post, I wrote it because I wanted to, and for no other reason. I hope you enjoyed it.
Please share your sewing creations or favorite patterns in a comment! I would love more sewing inspiration!
Until next time,
